So, we just moved into our new home about 3 weeks ago. We have got a lot accomplished so far but still have a ways to go. Some rather interesting things have happened so far.
We have had squirrels and chipmunks playing in our front yard, a nest of baby bunnies in our back yard, and a 6 foot snake trying to eat a baby bunny (bigger than the ones in the nest) right next to our house. While pressure washing the house I have been attacked by a group of wasps (didn't get stung thankfully) and disturbed a sleeping bat in our carport (who scared the bonkers out of me)! Enrique has also seen a snake while working on the fire pit. Needless to say, he hasn't gone back to dig anymore since then. Ha ha ha!
Joe has been as busy as ever. He is fixing up his monster sized shed, trimming tree limbs, and doing a number of other things. He is really doing an excellent job!
The house has been neglected in many ways. The house is structurally sound and is not in need of repairs to keep it from falling apart, but there are things that need to be done. All of the windows and doors need to be sealed to stop energy leaks. I don't think anything was done in the past to try to make the house more energy efficient. We have replaced around 40 light bulbs with 16 energy efficient bulbs and there are still a few that need to be replaced. We are also replacing the weather stripping in all the doors and windows.
Some other things we have going on is fixing up a beautiful screened in sun room a bit (will have some pics up soon) and refinishing the deck. I am going tomorrow to buy material to make curtains. We are also going to add an exercise room downstairs. These are just a few of the things we have planned but you will learn about everything else as it happens. I plan to post before and after pictures when each job is completed. The first set of pictures I post will be of many areas of the house before anything was really done to it but I will repost before pictures of each area when we have done whatever we are going to do to it. :)
I hope you enjoy sharing this experience with us and come back regularly to see how things are going. Please feel free to add comments and share with friends and family. :)
